In 2002, “Ice Age” hit the big screen, a sweet and funny story about three curious misfits who help a human child to return to his parents, and along the way they formed a peculiar family. Twenty years and several sequels later, the group of friends returns with “Ice Age: The Adventures of Buck” , by director John C. Donkin , a film whose existence shows us something very important: there are stories that should not continue.
Contrary to its title, this film does not focus on Buck, the brash weasel we met in the third installment of the franchise, but on possum brothers Eddie and Crash. After a fight, the duo decide to leave their pack to show how capable they are of taking care of themselves. Their distraction leads them back to the lost world, an underground land full of dinosaurs and danger. Together with Buck and his friend Zee. they face Orson, an intelligent dinosaur whose main wish is to end mammals forever.
This sixth installment is easily the worst in a franchise that is long overdue for retirement. While past movies have brought us pirates, meteorites, and even space travel. They at least made up for the loss of the simplicity that made the first one so memorable with overtly ridiculous plots.
