Watch Jolt 2021 Movie online streaming free on batflix website in full HD cinema quality within single click without any cost. Sounds like a good idea, but the execution is ultimately disappointing. Tanya Wexler’s previous film HYSTERIA (about the inventor of the vibrator) was candid and subtle, but the latter does not bother JOLT. In the first minutes of the film, a voice-over tries to tell us something about poor Lily, the angry and violent girl who was not loved and will therefore always have to remain lonely. Injustice drives her to instant rage. A childhood of medical and social experimentation only made her angrier and more violent, until she accidentally discovered a painful way to control herself. So with the aforementioned electroshocks (‘ jolts ‘).
Poor little Lily grows up to be petite blonde Kate Beckinsale, a bouncer with only one friend: her psychiatrist Dr Munchin (Stanley Tucci). The film becomes a lot more interesting and funnier because of the interaction between these two (‘Penis isn’t going to fix me, Dr Freud!’) and the meeting with love interest Justin (Jai Courtney). Then disaster strikes and the film also begins a slow decline towards pilot for a TV series. JOLT is unbalanced, as if all kinds of people have suddenly started interfering with the film. “Put a very expensive sports car in it!” “Cool! And more jokes about balls!” (Okay, some of them were really funny). “Oh, and a dopey police duo with two very different characters!” (Bobby Cannavale and Laverne Cox). It’s all so distracting.
Sometimes Lily holds back, sometimes not. Sometimes she is very sensitive, sometimes she looks like Tefal. Does she have superpowers or just an overdose of cortisol? Why does she have such an upperclass English accent? Why don’t you put on flat steel toes if you can’t run in those block heels? But above all: is this just a funny action movie, or should we really feel the message that an angry woman is a freak? Unless she’s pretty, because then there are men who want to save her from her disability. Maybe it was really a pilot and we can muse on this for seasons to come.
