In many ways this film is reminiscent of “The Hate U Give”: it takes a style usually aimed at teenagers and enriches it with an important and necessary commentary. Carey Williams’ precise direction seamlessly keeps the tone shifting and brings out the best in her cast. “Emergencia” is an entertaining work with an important and direct speech without ever becoming a pamphleteer, one whose chilling ending remains in the memory for a long time.
